Syracuse University’s junior midfielder Christina Dove, a graduate of Bel Air, was named to the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) / US Lacrosse All-America Second Team and to the IWLCA All-Northeast Region First Team for the second consecutive year. Dove was also a unanimous selection to the All-BIG EAST First Team for the second consecutive season and was voted the BIG EAST Co-Midfielder of the Year.
In addition to her lacrosse accolades, Dove also received academic honors with a second consecutive selection to the ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team. She will now go on the national ballot for Academic All-America recognition. Dove is a two-time BIG EAST Academic All-Star and a five-time member of the Syracuse Athletic Director’s Honor Roll.
This season Dove climbed to second place on Syracuse’s all-time leader lists for points (238) and goals (181). She enters her senior year as one of only two players in school history to record 100 points in a season and holds the single season record of 75 goals.
The Syracuse women’s lacrosse team (14-5) was honored as the BIG EAST Regular-Season Co-Champions and finished the season with an eighth place national ranking. The team advanced to the NCAA quarterfinals for the third consecutive season.
In addition to her success with the Syracuse women’s lacrosse program, Dove was selected as a member of the 2008-2009 U.S. Women’s Developmental lacrosse team and has recently advanced to the second round of try-outs for a spot on the 2009-2010 U.S. Women’s Developmental team roster.
