Two men were arrested and charged Wednesday after they allegedly grabbed the crotch of an undercover detective.

The male detective, undercover with the Harford County Sheriff’s Office, went into Bush River Book Store in the 3900 block of Pulaski Highway in Abingdon as part of a special vice enforcement detail focusing on adult book stores in the Route 40 corridor. The bookstores have long been known as pickup spots for homosexual men.

Around 5:45 p.m., the detective walked into the viewing rooms at the back of the store and saw two men. The first man, later identified as George Edward Glynn Jr., was allegedly massaging his own groin area outside his pants. Glynn walked toward the detective while allegedly rubbing himself and allegedly grabbed the detective in the crotch area with his right hand.

The detective removed Glynn’s hand and Glynn allegedly reached for him again. The detective removed Glynn’s hand a second time and Glynn walked away. A short time later, the second man, identified as Thomas Joseph Nawa, came toward the detective while allegedly massaging his own groin area on the outside of his pants.

Nawa allegedly grabbed the detective in the crotch and the detective removed Nawa’s hand. Nawa allegedly reached for the detective with force a second time and when the detective moved his hand a second time, Nawa allegedly resisted.

The detective called for uniformed deputies and both Nawa and Glynn were arrested.

Glynn, 81, of the 600 block of Loveville Road in Hockessin Del., was charged with fourth-degree sex offense and second-degree assault. He was released on his own recognizance later that day.

Nawa, 59, of the 4300 block of Conowingo Road in Darlington, was also charged with fourth-degree sex offense and second-degree assault. He was also released on his own recognizance on Wednesday.
