Three fires in Harford County had substantial effects last week, with one blaze resulting in more than $850,000 damages.

Pylesville home

Around 12:27 p.m. Jan. 27, firefighters arrived in the 1100 block of Ridge Road in Pylesville to combat flames in a two-story split level home, according to a notice of investigation from the State Fire Marshal.

The 30 firefighters from Whiteford, Norrisville, Jarrettsville, Bel Air, and York, Pa., battled the blaze for about 45 minutes before getting the fire under control.

The fire caused an estimated $850,000 in damage to the building’s structure and $20,000 to its contents.

Deputy State Fire Marshals believe the fire started in the first floor living area, but are investigating the cause.

Bel Air home

Around 7:27 p.m. last Wednesday flames spread in a Bel Air home.

Forty-five firefighters responded to the 300 block of Old Joppa Road to combat flames in a two-story home, according to the notice of investigation from the State Fire Marshal’s Office.

It took the firefighters from Bel Air, Fallston, Joppa-Magnolia, APG Edgewood and Kingsville about 45 minutes to control the flames.

The fire caused about $100,000 in damage to the structure and $25,000 to the building’s contents.

The fire started on the back porch and the cause is under investigation.

Fallston garage

Around 11:09 a.m. Sunday, flames in a detached garage brought fire fighters to the 1800 block of Belair Road in Fallston, according to a notice of investigation from the State Fire Marshal’s Office.

The 25 firefighters from Fallston and Bel Air controlled the flames in about half an hour.

The blaze caused about $50,000 in damage to the structure and $25,000 in damage to its contents.

The fire started accidentally inside the garage as a result of an unattended propane heater, according to the notice.
