Someone intentionally set a fire in an Aberdeen apartment building over the weekend but the damage was minimal.

Around 10:08 a.m. Saturday, a tenant in a three-story apartment building in the 300 block of Stevens Circle discovered a fire in the second floor stairwell, according to a notice of investigation from the Maryland State Fire Marshal.

The building, part of Cranberry Run Apartments, is owned by Maryland Management Company.

Fifteen firefighters from Aberdeen, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Level and Havre de Grace responded to the fire, but it was out by the time they arrived.

The fire caused an estimated $500 in damage to the building.

Deputy state fire marshals believe someone started the fire intentionally.

Anyone with information about the fire is asked to contact the office of the State Fire Marshal's office, 410-996-2793.
