The Bel Air Downtown Alliance has had a switch in leadership.
Scott Walker, a Bel Air resident, took over the position Dec. 14, 2009, after Elizabeth Cook stepped down.
“She’s put in five years and she was ready to start a new chapter in her life,” Walker said about Cook.
Walker formerly worked in sales and marketing for Hess Hotels Group.
He said he plans to continue the alliance’s promotion of historic Bel Air.
“We are probably going to see a push toward expanding our membership, expanding our sponsorships and promoting the community legacy area as a destination,” he said.
Cook became head of PollyAnna Publishing Company, which prints Havre de Grace Magazine, and is starting Harford Living Magazine.
She wrote in a letter to the Harford Business Ledger in December that “there is no question that the Alliance will continue to plan popular downtown events and continue in its admirable efforts to make Downtown Bel Air an ideal visitor-friendly destination.”
