Division leaders in the Bel Air Women’s Summer Lacrosse League continued to put distance between themselves and the chasers Tuesday night after another round of games at Rockfield Park’s Ewing Street Field.

In the junior division, the Carolina Tarheels improved to 5-0 with a 12-8 win over the Navy Killer Whales, who fell to 1-3. Red Apples, which had the bye, is 1-4.

The Killer Whales kept it fairly close throughout and pulled within two goals with just three minutes left to play. The Tarheels, however, scored the final two goals to secure the win.

Sydney Thomas had the hot hand, scoring six times for the Tarheels. Kate Chizmar added three goals and an assist, while Kelly Dyke had two goals and an assist. Paige Kerr also had one goal and one assist.

Anne Tillie paced the Killer Whales with four goals and one assist, while Connor Hanley had three goals and one assist. Jennifer Kerr, a Tarheels player helping Navy, had the other goal and Rebecca Morrell added one assist.

Alexis Strouse made eight saves to pick up the win in goal, while Jackie Schulze (five saves) and Heather Dove (two saves) combined in goal for Navy.

In the senior division, White Lightning struck again, beating Purple Rain, 17-9.

White Lightning moved to 7-0 and Purple Rain fell to 1-5-1.

Sara Chesla, Anna Pollitt, Kaitlyn Larrimore and Kelley Duncan each scored three goals to lead the Lightning to victory. Lauren Bradley and Courtney Chen netted two goals apiece and Liz DiNunno had a goal and two assists.

Bradley also had two assists and Larrimore had one.

Purple Rain was led by four two-goal scorers — Marisa Braungart, Nicole Oakley, Elyse Wilson and Emily Tyler. Carmen Chona had the other goal. Chelsea Braungart added two assists in the loss and Rachel Jones had one.

Schulze, subbing in goal from the junior division, made five saves for the win, while Grace Deckert had five saves in the loss.

In the nightcap, Chica Rosas jumped into second place with a 13-11 win over Sham-Wow. Chica Rosas is 3-4 and Sham-Wow fell to 2-4-1.

Chica Rosas was led to victory by Kim Eraso, Lisa Parr and Willow Schneider, who scored three goals apiece.

Laura Snee, Hana Krechel, Amanda Holsclaw and Holly Burke added a goal each in the win.

Eraso and Parr also had assists for Chica Rosas.

Sham-Wow got a big game out of Mel Warczysnki, who scored six goals. Cat Connelly contributed three goals, while Courtney Marmen and Brittany Gonzalez added single tallies.

Nicole Miller, Katie Rodriguez, Gonzalez and Warczynski also had assists.

Kaitlyn Neumeister picked up the win in goal with 10 saves, while Brittany MacKnew took the loss, making nine saves.
