The Harford County High School Bowling League’s 2009-10 season wrapped up recently, with the Fallston Cougars edging out the Aberdeen High School team by 4.5 points for the overall championship.
At season’s end, the Fallston Cougars had earned 197 combined points, while Aberdeen, the 2008-09 champion, took second place with 192.5 points.
The Cougars racked up a team average of 815 for the 2009-10 campaign, and wrapped up the year with a pins-plus-handicap total of 45,512.
Fallston’s individual standout bowlers were Michael Ford and Katie Lloyd. Ford posted the league’s highest series score of the season with 723, while Lloyd had the best girls scratch game result with a 261.
Aberdeen’s Josh Pillabaum was the Eagle’s most consistent roller, picking up a league-best average of 211.31 per game.
Sara Mack, of Harford Tech, posted an average score of 190.62, which was tops among the league’s girl bowlers.
When the season, which ran from Nov. 1, 2009, to Feb. 22, wrapped up, each of the members of the first-place team won $200 college scholarship letters, while the second-place team members each took home $100 vouchers, and the third-place bowlers were awarded $50 toward their higher education. All of the scholarships were donated by the Klein Family, who own Forest Hill Lanes.
My Son Troy was a part of this league for the first time this year. I was blessed to be able to attend almost every match and witness some great performances. Forest Hill Lanes did a wonderful job with this and made it both reasonable and enjoyable for all. I am looking forward to seeing how the league performs next year.
